About the Role
We are seeking a Training Manager to join Microsoft's Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) Learning team, committed to fostering an inclusive workplace aligned with Microsoft's values. This role involves managing training programs focused on technical education, workforce skill assessments, and leading procedural change management to support datacenter operations. Flexibility in location and remote work hours is available depending on team distribution and time zones.
Microsoft's CO+I group drives critical cloud infrastructure for services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. The role emphasizes personal and professional growth initiatives including career rotations, diversity and inclusion efforts, and professional certifications. Our infrastructure spans over 200 data centers worldwide, managed by experts supporting millions of users globally.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of trainers by exemplifying Microsoft's "Model, Coach, Care" philosophy, fostering individual growth and accountability.
- Collaborate with site managers and trainers to identify operational risks, fill training gaps, and suggest learning solutions, communicating findings with regional training leadership.
- Innovate training content by leveraging emerging technologies and real-world site scenarios, applying adult learning principles and strengthening partnerships with business stakeholders.
- Ensure training delivery incorporates the latest technology updates and processes for optimal learning outcomes aligned with practical challenges onsite.
- Monitor team engagement to meet global and local learner objectives, supporting partnerships within and outside the organization.
- Cultivate a continuous learning culture by sharing best practices with internal teams, customers, and industry experts.
- Maintain extensive collaboration with datacenter teams across functions to ensure training effectiveness supports availability, safety, and operational throughput goals.
- Uphold Microsoft's culture and values in all activities.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's Degree plus at least 6 years combined experience in training, IT, cloud systems, datacenter or critical facility environments, or equivalent qualifications.
Security Requirements: Successful completion and ongoing compliance with the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 3 years working alongside program managers, technical specialists, and executives within global operational organizations.
- At least 3 years direct management experience leading technical teams maintaining datacenter IT or critical facility functions.
- Hands-on technical expertise with facility cooling, electrical, mechanical and life safety systems, including Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM), Building Automation Systems (BAS), and Battery Monitoring Systems (BMS).
- Proven track record in directing training delivery and readiness operations with business process management skills.
