Role overview
An opportunity is available for a Tower Linesperson to join the operations team in the South of England. The work is hands-on, outdoors, and focused on keeping the electricity network running safely and reliably. If faults occur, the team responds quickly and works to restore supply as soon as possible.
Base locations
This role may be based from Reading, Slough, Southampton, Portsmouth, Aldershot, Andover, Basingstoke, Farnham, Newbury, Oxford, Petersfield, Thatcham, Melksham, New Forest, Poole, Salisbury, Swindon, or Yeovil.
Working pattern and pay
This is a permanent, full-time, onsite position. The basic working week is 37 hours, with extra hours available as overtime. Salary is £38,966 to £45,905, plus overtime. Double pay applies on Sundays, and weekend work is available.
Allowance, equipment, and leave
If you live outside the area, accommodation or lodging support can be provided. Full PPE and all required tools are supplied. A company vehicle with a fuel card is included. The role also offers 6 paid holidays plus bank holidays, along with further benefits for family, finances, and wellbeing.
What the role involves
You will work as part of a team on overhead line inspection, maintenance, and construction activity on the 33kV and 132kV overhead network. The job requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and being ready to respond quickly to emergency situations. The role can be demanding, and the focus is on delivering a safe and dependable service to customers.
What the employer is looking for
The ideal candidate will have a solid electrical background with practical experience, along with proven work on overhead power lines and tower structures. Relevant operational authorisations, such as SSE or equivalent DNO authorisations, are desirable, as is tower rescue training. You should be comfortable working safely outdoors in all weather and hold a full valid UK driving licence.
