Overview
Valard Construction's Telecommunications division is seeking a Labourer to join their Winnipeg, Manitoba team. Reporting to the Foreman, this role involves providing manual support across various tasks within the construction environment, requiring a strong work ethic and physical endurance to perform daily hands-on work.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a range of physical tasks including sweeping, shoveling, assembling components, and site cleaning.
- Assist with manual labor as needed to support the construction crew.
- Transport necessary tools to job sites, inspect and confirm tool functionality prior to use, and ensure all equipment and tools are safely stored after use.
- Operate standard hand and power tools safely, such as skill saws, grinders, and snow blowers.
- Strictly follow company and industry safety guidelines to maintain a high level of workplace safety.
- Engage in tailboard meetings to identify potential hazards and contribute to safety discussions.
- Promptly report potential risks to Foremen or Journeymen.
- Carry out other duties as designated by the crew.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Prior experience in construction or similar manual labor roles.
- Must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Physically capable of lifting at least 50 pounds consistently.
- Awareness and application of safety procedures and requirements on construction sites.
- Familiarity with operating basic hand and power tools safely.
Work Conditions
This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, requiring the individual to be on-site 5 to 6 days per week with shifts approximately 10 hours each day.
