Technical Support Engineer

About the Role

ZYPEEK Group is a high-performance polymer manufacturer based in China, focused on advanced and sustainable PEEK material solutions for sectors such as consumer electronics, automotive, energy, aerospace, and medical. The company is expanding internationally and is looking for a technically strong, customer-oriented Plastic Technical Support Engineer to join its Japan team. This position plays a key role in helping customers succeed by solving challenges related to product selection, substitution, processing, and quality improvement. You will act as the technical link between European customers, the regional sales team, and the company’s headquarters R&D and quality functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand customer applications, performance needs, and current material usage in order to provide expert technical guidance.
• Suggest appropriate replacement materials for customer requirements and clearly explain the reasoning and benefits behind each recommendation.
• Deliver on-site technical assistance for issues arising in plastic processing methods such as injection molding, extrusion, and compression molding.
• Investigate production problems, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions along with process parameter improvements to support product quality.
• Gather, review, and validate product quality concerns reported by customers during manufacturing.
• Convert field issues into structured technical documentation and standardized quality reports.
• Partner with headquarters technology and quality teams to refine product specifications, manufacturing methods, and quality control systems.
• Support new application development by collecting technical inputs and customer requirements for new projects.
• Coordinate with the headquarters application technology team on solution development and testing, while sharing field insights from the European market.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related practical background.
• More than 10 years of experience in technical support or process engineering in the plastics/polymer industry; experience with PEEK is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plastic processing in Europe, especially injection molding, extrusion, and compression molding.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve process problems independently.
• Working knowledge of material analysis methods such as DSC, TGA, DMA, and FTIR, with the ability to read and interpret test results.
• Exposure to application requirements and technical standards in one or two industries such as automotive, electrical, industrial, energy, or aerospace is preferred.
• Fluency in English and German is required.
• French or Italian proficiency is an added advantage.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations across Europe, with travel expected to be around 30–50%.
