Role overview
As a Technical Support Engineer at Level 2, you will be part of the Network & Infrastructure team, delivering advanced support for end-user computing, systems, and network environments. The role involves troubleshooting complex hardware and software problems, keeping systems secure, stable, and efficient, and working closely with IT and business teams to provide excellent support for users in office, remote, and offshore settings.
Key accountabilities
- Keep IT environments secure and dependable by applying security controls, watching for risks, and handling incidents.
- Administer and improve end-user computing platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, Microsoft 365, software asset management, and user-experience monitoring tools like Immibot.
- Deliver advanced support for network and infrastructure services, taking incidents through to resolution and recording root causes and improvement actions.
- Oversee identity and access management in Active Directory and Microsoft 365, including user setup, group policies, and access permissions.
- Take ownership of end-user computing systems and continuously enhance their reliability, performance, and user experience.
- Participate in an after-hours support roster for urgent incidents.
- Coach and assist junior colleagues, helping strengthen service desk and helpdesk capability.
- Work with urgency and accountability when issues are time-critical, using initiative to solve problems quickly and effectively.
- Partner with stakeholders across IT and the wider business to achieve strong service outcomes.
- Support safety, quality, and ongoing improvement in line with company policies and standards.
Qualifications and experience
The preferred candidate will bring a relevant tertiary qualification and/or a Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator certification, which is considered highly desirable. You should have practical experience across the Microsoft 365 environment, including core administration tasks, and hands-on work deploying and supporting Windows laptops and desktops. Experience with EUC build, device management, Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, and MDM/MAM tools is important. You should also understand identity and access management across Active Directory, Entra ID, and Group Policy, along with endpoint security and vulnerability monitoring. A solid grasp of networking fundamentals, protocols, and services is required, as well as familiarity with ITSM practices such as ITIL and tools like ServiceNow or Jira. The role suits someone who is customer-oriented, proactive, and accountable, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills who can manage competing demands in a fast-moving environment.
