Role Overview
This position serves as a crucial link between Business/Operations and Technology vendors, facilitating the resolution of issues related to new products, defects, change requests, or functionalities. The role supports the implementation of technology solutions in a cost-efficient manner by identifying project requirements and clearly communicating them to all involved stakeholders, including business case development, cost-benefit analyses, requirements gathering, assistance in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), implementation, and project management.
Industry and Market Context
The health insurance sector comprises over 15 private non-life insurers and 5 specialized private health insurance entities competing against six nationalized providers. Although the annual market is approximately 10,000 Crores, around 85% business renews with existing providers, limiting fresh business competition to roughly 1,500 Crores. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups are major growth drivers with increasing demand, requiring tailored solutions to address diverse business segments. Expanding affordable, standardized offerings through channel partners nationwide is key to unlocking new business opportunities.
Challenges and Opportunities
- Recruiting and retaining talent with niche skill sets swiftly
- Establishing a process-driven culture with standardized, documented operating procedures
- Promoting awareness and consensus among stakeholders to enforce adherence to SOPs, support outsourcing, process re-engineering, and automation initiatives
- Keeping pace with fast-changing economic and regulatory environments without sacrificing service quality despite limited resources
- Devising strategies to outsource and automate effectively amid vendor and system constraints
- Ensuring consistent service delivery despite resource limitations, vendor geographic spread, volume fluctuations, and minimal lead time to address deviations or SLA breaches
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and translate business and operational change needs into detailed requirements aligning with business processes
- Develop Business Requirement Documents and comprehensive test cases
- Convert business requirements into detailed product, process, or system specifications
- Collaborate with IT colleagues to fulfill system delivery obligations, especially for cross-functional projects
- Execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and obtain formal approvals for deployment to pre-production and production environments
- Implement new releases and automate existing applications to enhance operational efficiency
