Role Overview
As a Support Planner, you will evaluate and determine the treatment, care, and support requirements for individuals with complex injuries and disabilities. You will guide participants in defining and accomplishing personal goals, collaborating with their treatment teams to enhance independence, community participation, and engagement in meaningful activities. Your role also involves empowering participants to make informed decisions, exercising choice and control.
Operational Context
This position operates within the National Injury Insurance Agency, Queensland (NIISQ Agency) framework, alongside Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) and Nominal Defendant (ND), collectively known as the Motor Accident Insurance Schemes Queensland (MAIS-Q). Employment will be through the NIISQ Agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide information and support regarding the Scheme and the Agency to participants, their families, and carers.
- Assess participant needs, develop and revise support plans, and make decisions or recommendations regarding necessary and reasonable treatment and care.
- Execute delegated functions compliant with relevant legislation and Agency protocols.
- Facilitate participant empowerment in developing, executing, and monitoring support plans that emphasize individual goals, choice, control, and measurable outcomes.
- Identify viable treatment and support options, balancing participant needs with Scheme sustainability and community standards.
- Manage service requests, approvals, and payments based on assessments and support plans.
- Engage with legal representatives of participants and their families when needed.
- Enable participants to utilize resources that promote independence, community involvement, and employment opportunities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of support plans.
- Contribute to a learning culture by sharing knowledge and staying updated with best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of support planning principles and processes.
- Capability to oversee support planning and goal-setting in alignment with delegated responsibilities and legislation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead oneself and others in a dynamic, collaborative, and flexible environment.
- Excellent communication skills to build relationships and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
- Competence in making evidence-based decisions and recommendations concerning disability services.
- Compliance with criminal history checks per the Public Sector Act 2022.
- Disclosure of any history of serious disciplinary actions for current and previous public sector employees as per legislation.
- Obligation to reveal any potential conflicts of interest in accordance with relevant Public Sector Act sections.
