Support Operation & Maintenance for PRM Rolling Mill

Overview

This role involves preparing and inspecting tubes for the rolling process, setting up and operating the rolling mill according to precise specifications, and ensuring the production of quality tubes by monitoring various parameters throughout the operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify incoming tube outer diameter (OD), wall thickness, and surface condition before loading onto the rolling line.
• Configure and run the rolling mill based on predetermined pass schedules, ensuring appropriate roll gap, alignment, and die-plug setup for each product.
• Continuously adjust machine parameters through the control panel to sustain steady rolling operations, meeting specified dimensional outputs for OD, wall thickness, and tube length.
• Use precision instruments such as calipers and OD gauges to measure tube dimensions and elongation at each rolling pass, ensuring compliance with tolerance limits.
• Identify surface defects like seams or splits and dimensional inconsistencies during rolling, triggering corrective measures to maintain quality standards.
• Apply lubricants correctly at all die positions throughout the process to protect tube surfaces and minimize die wear.
• Monitor rolling forces and motor currents; promptly notify technicians if abnormal conditions arise.
• Analyze causes of machine or tooling issues including roll wear, misalignments, or lubrication faults, supporting necessary corrective and preventive maintenance efforts.
