SQL / Python Developer

Role Overview

O2 Technologies, Inc is seeking a skilled SQL/Python Developer to join their team in New York, NY. This hybrid role requires working onsite for three days per week and offers a competitive hourly rate of $72. The ideal candidate will be a proficient hands-on engineer capable of analyzing and enhancing complex SQL codebases as well as contributing to the modernization and refactoring of legacy systems. A strong understanding of Python programming is essential along with familiarity with Java codebases to assist with code migration efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and improve the performance of complex SQL code and stored procedures through optimization and tuning.
• Develop and maintain stored procedures to support business requirements.
• Contribute to gradual modernization and refactoring of existing database systems.
• Comprehend legacy Java code to aid in designing strategies to migrate code to Python.
• Plan and execute data migration initiatives.
• Optimize database queries for improved efficiency and performance.
• Implement database refactoring to support system improvements.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Expertise in SQL, including T-SQL and PL/SQL, focusing on query optimization and stored procedure development.
• Strong programming skills in Python for software development tasks.
• Basic understanding of Java code to review and support migration processes.
• Experience working with relational database systems and utilizing version control tools like Git.

Education and Experience

Candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Data Science. Preference will be given to applicants with a master’s degree in Computer Science or Data Science. Prior experience in technology, software development, or data engineering sectors is essential.
