About the Role
UGL is currently hiring a skilled SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) Workpack Developer to contribute to a substantial Oil & Gas project. This position operates on a site-based 2:2 roster and involves crafting detailed SMP work packs to facilitate hydrostatic testing. The role requires translating technical engineering documents into actionable and precise work packages for field deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create SMP Work Packs and Job Cards by thoroughly analyzing schedules, specifications, procedures, drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and other engineering documents meeting UGL and client standards.
- Develop and review hydrostatic test packs ensuring comprehensive capture of testing methods, quality documentation, procedures, and records of completion.
- Track progression of work packs, update statuses regularly, manage document revisions, and collaborate with document control teams.
- Offer technical assistance to construction and execution teams by addressing queries and clarifying scope details.
- Engage in constructability and execution reviews to confirm work scopes are practical, efficient, and safe.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders including engineers, supervisors, planners, and client representatives to align work packs with overall project goals.
- Ensure all work packs adhere to project specs, client demands, industry standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through developing and refining systems, procedures, templates, and packaging workflows.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues related to planning, documentation, and execution to optimize project delivery.
- Promote and maintain a robust safety culture, ensuring compliance with all site, state, and federal safety regulations.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses a trade qualification in Mechanical, Boilermaking, Pipefitting, or related SMP fields.
- Proven experience as an SMP Workpack Developer, Planner, or similar role in Oil & Gas, Resources, Energy, Construction, or Maintenance industries.
- Thorough understanding of hydrostatic testing protocols and test pack formulation.
- Skilled at interpreting engineering drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and structural specifications.
- Experienced in formulating work packs for a range of projects like construction, shutdowns, turnarounds, brownfield, or maintenance operations.
- Well-versed in SMP installation, maintenance, and commissioning tasks.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel.
- Effective communicator with strong coordination and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Able to perform efficiently within dynamic, fast-moving project environments.
