Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Field Operations, the Site Superintendent supervises and coordinates all construction activities on site within the Vancouver Lower Mainland, BC. The position demands ensuring projects adhere to safety, budget, schedule, quality, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage on-site construction teams, including subcontractors and laborers.
• Review subcontracts to verify scope accuracy and shared understanding among all parties.
• Assign duties, direct personnel, and monitor progress to meet project timelines and quality benchmarks.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to align on project goals and specifications.
• Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules, ensuring organized execution of activities.
• Provide weekly progress updates with a six-week outlook to ensure site activities stay aligned with overall project timelines.
• Facilitate weekly meetings with subcontractors to plan and coordinate site operations smoothly.
• Ensure timely receipt and resolution of Request for Information (RFI) to avoid schedule delays.
• Oversee construction to confirm compliance with designs, specifications, and industry standards.
• Conduct routine inspections to detect and resolve any workmanship deviations or shortcomings.
• Demonstrate strong skills in reading and interpreting design drawings and blueprints.
• Enforce rigorous safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment for all site personnel.
• Manage project budgets by monitoring expenses, reviewing invoices, and controlling costs without sacrificing quality.
• Coordinate procurement to confirm on-time delivery of necessary materials and equipment.
• Serve as a communication bridge for stakeholders by reporting progress, challenges, and solutions.
• Document daily site activities, problems, and decisions to preserve comprehensive project records.
• Quickly respond to unexpected issues with sound judgments to keep projects on course.
• Ensure strict compliance with local building codes, regulations, and permits for all construction work.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in ICI construction or related fields, preferably in supervisory roles.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, terminology, and techniques.
• In-depth familiarity and application of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act relevant to projects.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans accurately.
• Understanding of Lean Construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
• Journeyman Carpentry Certification and/or Gold Seal Certification considered advantageous.
• Experience with Salus Safety Software is a plus.
• Knowledge of Procore and BIM software is beneficial.

Working Conditions

• Main work environment is on construction project sites.
• Site travel within the area is expected.
• Exposure to all seasonal weather conditions typical of construction work sites.
