Role Overview
The Site Security Coordinator based in Brittos Bakery, Eastern Cape, is responsible for implementing effective security programs to safeguard personnel, assets, and company interests across three premises with around 550 employees. Reporting to the Business Unit leadership and the Global Security Director (SA), this role plays a vital part in managing emerging security threats and maintaining business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the Site Security Plan aligned with country-wide strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate security risks to associates, facilities, information, and brand reputation.
- Participate actively in the Site Crisis Management Team executing security functions within business continuity plans.
- Ensure compliance with the site security measures including technological systems, procedures, manned guarding, and architectural defenses.
- Foster strong coordination with local management and maintain relationships with security, emergency response, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies.
- Conduct periodic security self-assessments and bi-annual risk evaluations to close vulnerabilities with cost-effective best practice enhancements.
- Deliver security awareness training to PepsiCo associates and security personnel to strengthen overall preparedness.
- Provide expert advice and support before, during, and after security incidents, including risk assessments for site leadership.
- Support implementation of security plans that protect the supply chain during all Make/Move/Sell stages.
- Coordinate investigations regarding counterfeit, extortion, contamination, loss reduction, kidnappings, robberies, Speak Up reports, fraud, corruption, and other security threats.
- Conduct security training during strikes or labor disputes and manage protocols accordingly.
- Oversee security guard companies to optimize costs and manage performance through KPIs with monthly evaluations.
- Promote continuous professional development and succession planning within the security team.
- Ensure implementation of all security policies, plans, and site standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Immediately report incidents to line management and document reports in line with security procedures.
- Monitor CCTV recordings daily to detect any irregularities and support evidence provision for security and safety incidents.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience with at least 3 years in private sector security, preferably industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of security principles, best practices, and objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Security PSIRA Grade A qualification.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Capable of working collaboratively within a team and responding to dynamic environments, including 24/7 availability.
