About the Role
The Signalling Technician is tasked with performing hands-on installation, cabling, assembly, and pre-commissioning testing of both wayside and indoor railway signalling systems. The role demands strict adherence to safety, accuracy, project drawings, manufacturer guidelines, and company standards throughout on-site execution.
Key Duties
- Establish and secure precast foundations for wayside signalling equipment ensuring proper leveling.
- Lead installation of critical wayside assets such as axle counters, point machines, and Eurobalises following detailed drawings, alignment tolerances, and vendor instructions.
- Manage cable laying operations, organize tray routing, install trackside junction boxes, perform terminations, wiring, and labeling accurately.
- Conduct pre-commissioning static tests including cable insulation verification (Megger tests), checking point machine mechanical locks, and tracking physical parameters.
- Oversee subcontractors to meet schedule milestones, identify site issues timely, and prepare detailed Daily Progress Reports.
- Strictly enforce Track Access rules and specialized railway Health, Safety and Environmental protocols to guarantee absolute site safety at all times.
- Demonstrate advanced ability to interpret complex electrical loop schematics, cable core termination charts, signalling layout plans, and civil/structural interface diagrams.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Technical Diploma or High School Certificate in Electrical, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Signalling Technician focused on railway systems installation and testing.
- Proven background working on mainline railway projects.
Skills and Competencies
- Expertise in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and signalling layouts.
- Competence in handling specialized railway measurement devices, multimeters, and insulation testers.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a practical approach to solving technical problems.
- Effective communication and coordination capabilities for collaboration within multicultural teams.
- Resilience to work efficiently under pressure and cope with harsh site conditions.
Employment Details and Additional Requirements
- Availability to join immediately is expected.
- Full-time onsite work in Al Ain with a 6-day working week.
- Possession of a valid UAE driving license is compulsory.
Language Proficiency
- Professional level of spoken and written English is required.
- Arabic language skills will be considered an advantage.
