Senior Transport Planner - Ireland

About the Role

Join WSP's Transport Planning & Mobility team in Ireland as a Senior Transport Planner based in our Naas office with hybrid working options allowing a mix of in-office and remote work. In this role, you will lead and support diverse transport projects across multiple modes, focusing on strategy development, active travel schemes, business cases, and project delivery from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior management with various Transport Planning projects and bids, providing both technical and commercial expertise.
• Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams across WSP service lines to deliver integrated projects from conception to completion.
• Support proposal development and client engagement activities.
• Work alongside UK transport and mobility colleagues on projects across the UK network.
• Contribute actively to WSP’s core pillars: People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Expertise.

Team Environment

The Ireland transport and mobility group is a newly formed discipline offering a broad range of technical transport planning work with clients including Local Authorities and National Government bodies. You'll have opportunities for career progression, client exposure, and skill development in areas such as net zero initiatives, future mobility, freight, public transport, active travel, and transport communications.

What We Seek

• Experience in active travel projects, particularly delivery of NTA PAG Phase 2-4 schemes.
• Background in formulating transport strategies, plans, policies, and use of the ABTA process for transport plans.
• Knowledge or experience in business case development, transport assessments, feasibility studies, and concept design.
• Experience working with Local Authority clients or eagerness to build such relationships.
• Capability or desire to develop client-facing and sales skills including bid writing and participation in sales events.
• Competence in managing multiple projects with strong prioritization and deadline adherence.
• Effective presentation delivery and communication with diverse stakeholders including public officials and the community.
• Interest or experience in developing commercial project management skills or assisting project management roles.
• Leadership skills to guide junior team members.
• Progress towards Chartered status or related professional affiliations such as Engineers Ireland, CIHT, CEng, or TPP.
