Job description
Overview
Based in Auckland and reporting directly to the GM of Strategy Execution, this Senior Strategy Manager role at ASB Bank offers a unique chance to influence high-level enterprise priorities and strategic decisions. You will collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure key initiatives deliver measurable business impacts, by aligning strategy, planning, and performance across the bank.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee enterprise-level planning and performance cycles including leading Executive Quarterly Business Reviews and facilitating major planning sessions.
- Drive strategic prioritization and sequencing by providing options, analyses, and recommendations for Executive Leadership Team conversations.
- Transform the broad strategy into clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and performance indicators.
- Prepare executive-quality insights and presentation materials for CEO, ELT, and Board-level meetings.
- Provide transparency into enterprise performance, risk areas, strategic dependencies, and critical interventions needed.
- Support the annual operational planning process and ensure alignment across the enterprise.
- Embed uniform performance reporting using scorecards, OKRs, and customer outcome metrics.
- Integrate data and insights across strategy, finance, risk, project delivery, and business units to aid decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Business Units, Centres of Expertise, and senior leadership teams.
Candidate Profile
- Comfortable operating at an enterprise level with senior leaders to influence prioritization that drives commercial value.
- Adept at navigating complex and ambiguous environments to establish clarity, alignment, and momentum among diverse stakeholders.
- Experienced in strategic roles involving enterprise planning, transformation, or performance management.
- Commercially astute with a track record supporting prioritization and investment decisions.
- Proficient at leading Quarterly or Executive Business Reviews and enterprise planning forums.
- Knowledgeable of agile or scaled agile frameworks.
- Skilled at influencing senior executives and managing complex stakeholder dynamics.
- Experienced working cross-functionally to align priorities and manage dependencies.
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to convert data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, comfortable engaging at Executive and Board tiers.
