This 12-month temporary role involves hybrid working, 35 hours per week, and an hourly pay rate of €45.95 equivalent to an annual salary of €83,911. Role Purpose
The Senior Project Manager will spearhead strategic projects nationally linked to identity management within the healthcare sector. As a member of the Senior Management Team, this role supports Ireland's Digital for Care strategy by driving the National Individual Health Identifier (IHI) and Identity Management Programs. The position demands strategic foresight, excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent projects. The goal is to ensure efficiency, regulatory compliance, and measurable improvements in healthcare services, patient outcomes, and operational productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a transformational change initiative within the Irish healthcare system to be completed within 12 months.
- Provide strategic direction and decisive leadership to meet project milestones and objectives.
- Coordinate diverse stakeholder groups including clinical, operational, technical, and governance representatives to ensure engagement and alignment with project aims.
- Create, implement, and monitor detailed project plans, strategies, and schedules.
- Facilitate effective communication and teamwork across all involved parties.
- Identify and manage risks proactively to keep the project on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote continual improvement and innovation in project management approaches.
- Lead and inspire project team members fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Allocate and manage resources efficiently to achieve project goals within deadlines.
Project Management Duties
- Define project requirements and scope with the General Manager.
- Apply project management best practices to maintain consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to govern projects and define scopes.
- Engage professionally with internal and external partners for project delivery.
- Identify and mitigate project delivery challenges.
- Offer expert advice to working groups as needed.
- Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Measure project improvements and incorporate lessons learned into future planning.
- Report progress to management and sponsors regularly.
Strategic Contributions
- Provide detailed inputs on service expectations, development plans, and capital planning.
- Evaluate project effectiveness through qualitative and quantitative data analysis, including Power BI reporting.
- Ensure project alignment with governance and strategic objectives.
- Confirm all new initiatives comply with organizational strategies and values.
- Maintain accountability and reporting through regular senior management communications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience managing or leading nationally significant projects involving business, technical, legal, and governance aspects.
- Strong background in business operations, change management, and structured project methodologies in complex environments.
- Relevant qualification in Health Administration, Project Management, Business, or related field; project management certification desirable.
- Track record of managing multiple projects concurrently with successful outcomes.
- Familiarity with developing and implementing standards, policies, and guidelines.
- Experience in collaborative cross-functional work across multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capability for effective management and suitability for assigned duties.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Solid project management experience with knowledge of best practices.
- Capability in data analysis and interpretation including critical appraisal.
