Senior Material Engineer

Job Overview

The Senior Material Engineer will play a key role in the GEC Supervision department supporting Ashghal infrastructure projects in Qatar. The role involves managing material engineering operations, ensuring compliance with project standards, and contributing to the effective execution of infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead material engineering activities for Ashghal projects, guaranteeing adherence to quality standards and project specifications.
• Evaluate and approve materials testing and inspection schemes to confirm their suitability for project requirements.
• Regularly visit sites to oversee material processes and provide direction to onsite teams.
• Collaborate closely with project managers and stakeholders to integrate material engineering tasks within project schedules.
• Supervise and mentor a team of material engineers, delivering technical support and leadership.
• Keep current with new developments and industry best practices in material engineering.
• Compile detailed reports on material engineering operations, including actionable recommendations and observations.
• Participate actively in project meetings to offer expert opinions on material-related issues.
• Ensure that all work complies with Ashghal regulations throughout the project duration.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Material Engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 12 years’ experience in material engineering, particularly in infrastructure project contexts.
• Professional registration or certification in Material Engineering is highly recommended.
• Demonstrated expertise in overseeing material engineering for large-scale projects.
• Strong command of material testing and inspection methodologies and standards.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities for guiding engineering teams.
• Familiarity with project management software and proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with collaborative aptitude.
• Readiness to travel and work onsite as project demands require.
• Proactive and solution-focused problem-solving mindset.
• Valid MMUP/UPDA engineer registration in Qatar is mandatory.
