Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Technology Operations will oversee AUSIEX's operational technology platforms, ensuring comprehensive responsibility for their stability, resilience, and performance. This role balances operational leadership with a mission to modernize IT operations through automation, service reliability, and readiness, aligning business goals with regulatory and client expectations in a high-availability setting. This permanent position is based in Perth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end production environment performance and availability ensuring operational readiness.
- Lead cross-functional teams across production support, platform engineering, service delivery, service desk, and end-user computing.
- Implement a proactive operational model focused on early risk detection and continuous improvement.
- Develop scalable 24/7 operational coverage aligned with business requirements.
- Define and enforce service ownership, SLAs, and accountability for all systems.
- Enhance system reliability, resilience, and recovery through effective incident, problem, and crisis management.
- Foster a metrics-driven culture utilizing SLAs, SLOs, MTTR, and performance analytics.
- Advance monitoring, alerting, and observability practices across platforms.
- Oversee robust business continuity and disaster recovery procedures with regular testing.
- Conduct root cause analyses and spearhead initiatives to prevent recurring system issues.
- Transform system administration into platform engineering ensuring scalability and readiness for modern, cloud-based architectures.
- Support operation readiness for new releases and system changes.
- Manage IT service delivery to provide consistent, cost-effective support enhancing user productivity.
- Engage regularly with business stakeholders to refine service quality and user experience.
- Elevate service management maturity with ITIL-based but results-focused practices; rationalize and optimize L1/L2 support and offshore vendor management.
- Comprehensively manage offshore vendor relationships ensuring alignment with performance, SLA, and cost objectives.
- Align technology operations with risk management, audits, and regulatory standards.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks; implement governance and generate executive reports on operational performance.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a multi-disciplinary, geographically dispersed team fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Experience and Qualifications
- Over 15 years of experience with extensive leadership in production or IT operations.
- Proven track record managing IT operations in complex and regulated environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across business, tech, and risk areas.
- Ownership of mission-critical systems requiring high availability.
- Expertise in production support, platform operations, and service delivery models.
- Experience leading distributed teams in both onsite and offshore settings.
- Knowledge of modern operations including automation, monitoring, and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
- Demonstrated capability driving operational improvements and transformation initiatives.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Background in financial services or trading platforms.
- Experience with high-volume, real-time transaction systems.
- Understanding of microservices architectures and integration platforms.
