Overview
Join AtkinsRéalis in our Transmission Distribution division, where we provide comprehensive engineering solutions for power network projects including substations, transmission lines, and grid upgrades. Our BIM team champions digital transformation by producing precise 3D models, facilitating clash detection, and supporting Scan-to-BIM technologies. We focus on integrating renewables, maintaining compliance with global standards, and driving innovation through multidisciplinary design approaches.
Responsibilities
- Lead BIM coordination and drawing/model management for electrical and civil systems in substation projects.
- Develop single line diagrams, control schemes, layouts, 3D models, and hazardous area classifications.
- Create detailed substation infrastructure drawings covering power distribution, earthing, lighting, and protection systems.
- Coordinate with cross-functional internal teams and external collaborators to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Uphold quality assurance protocols and ensure adherence to CAD/BIM standards across deliverables.
- Guide and mentor junior designers while motivating the team toward excellence.
- Implement BIM and Scan-to-BIM workflows throughout project lifecycles.
- Manage project setups, customize BIM deliverables, and monitor progress effectively.
Requirements
- Extensive 8-15 years experience in electrical BIM design with focus on substation projects, including greenfield and brownfield developments.
- Expertise across multidisciplinary domains like electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical design.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring teams and coordinating technical groups.
- Strong knowledge of CAD/BIM standards, drawing protocols, and project workflows.
- Hands-on proficiency with tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Microstation, and Dynamo.
- Experience with Scan-to-BIM processes and familiarity with international standards (UK, India, Middle East, APAC).
- Understanding of National Grid standards is highly advantageous.
- Competency in preparing and reviewing complex technical drawings ensuring quality and compliance.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microstation, and Dynamo software.
- Knowledge of EDMS systems and drawing control procedures.
- Ability to implement quality management and safety procedures aligned with GDC BMS QSE protocols.
- Good grasp of project scheduling and resource optimization.
- Familiarity with BEP documentation and external references (Xrefs).
