Senior Entomologist

About the Role

KrishiGK seeks a knowledgeable Senior Entomologist to spearhead pest surveillance, provide scientific guidance, and implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies. The role involves utilizing satellite imagery, weather data, GIS applications, and on-ground intelligence to craft effective crop protection advisories, enhancing digital agriculture outreach to farmers.

Key Responsibilities

• Track and evaluate insect pest incidences affecting various crops.
• Create pest forecasting models and early warning systems using satellite, meteorological, and field-collected data.
• Formulate targeted pest advisories based on regional, crop-specific, and climatic factors.
• Develop and disseminate Integrated Pest Management methodologies.
• Interpret pest patterns, crop damage, and field observations to provide expert recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with agronomists, GIS professionals, data analysts, and field teams.
• Conduct field inspections, demonstrations, validation trials, and farmer training sessions.
• Produce technical content tailored for mobile apps, SMS, WhatsApp, and digital platforms for agricultural advisories.
• Provide training to advisory personnel on pest identification and scientific consultation.
• Assess emerging pest management technologies and research findings.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• M.Sc. in Agriculture specialized in Entomology; Ph.D. preferred for senior level eligibility.
• 3 to 5 years' experience in agricultural advisory, pest surveillance, digital agriculture, farmer advisory systems, or GIS/remote sensing agricultural projects.

Required Skills

• Deep understanding of insect pests and IPM principles.
• Expertise in pest monitoring and outbreak prediction.
• Basic knowledge of remote sensing and GIS applications.
• Competency in data interpretation and technical documentation.
