Overview
John Sisk & Son Ltd, a family-owned global construction firm, is dedicated to delivering quality, trust, and innovation on every project. We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer to lead and manage the engineering function on site. This pivotal role involves coordinating with line management, providing engineering leadership, overseeing onsite controls, and ensuring adherence to Sisk's quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate expertise in dimensional control, including the conversion of global grids to local grids.
- Oversee site and junior engineers in managing survey equipment responsibly.
- Ensure completion of as-built surveys for critical project elements and assess tolerances to identify potential interface issues.
- Maintain a daily work diary documenting activities and progress.
- Apply principles of quality control across key construction packages, including concrete, drainage, steelwork, and brickwork, and develop or review Inspection & Test Plans.
- Understand project specifications, especially tolerances for vertical and horizontal structural components.
- Manage the Sisk Non-Conformance procedure, including issuing and resolving non-conformance reports to minimize cost and defects.
- Authorize permits related to ground-breaking activities.
- Review and prepare method statements and risk assessments to ensure operational safety.
- Identify missing information and manage the project Request for Information (RFI) process effectively.
- Actively control temporary works coordination and manage lifting operations as needed.
Experience and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of underground services hazards and associated risk management.
- Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and digital project management systems such as A-Site and Viewpoint.
- Extensive experience with design management processes.
- Technical expertise across piling, geotechnical, substructures, including waterproofing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering or equivalent higher education qualification.
- Certification in Temporary Works Coordination.
- Basic awareness training in Lifting Operations.
- A61 CPCS Lifting certification.
- Operations Appointed Persons course completion.
- Scaffold awareness and inspection training.
- Familiarity with planning and programming software tools.
