Senior Engineer, AI Platforms and Solutions

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Qualcomm’s Enterprise AI Platform, based in Cork, Ireland. This hands-on position focuses on designing and scaling AI-driven applications and user experiences, with emphasis on knowledge retrieval engineering, agentic pipeline development, and management of agent-powered solutions. The role demands a fast-paced and execution-oriented approach involving swift release of features, continual iteration of AI pipelines, creation of novel agentic business process solutions, and integration of AI capabilities into existing systems.

Responsibilities

• Create comprehensive AI-powered applications comprising both backend services and user-facing interfaces.
• Develop enterprise-level AI search and retrieval systems that support diverse downstream applications and intelligent agents.
• Design and implement APIs, services, multi-component pipelines, and agent tools to expose machine learning and AI functionalities.
• Integrate large language model (LLM) and AI features into enterprise apps, fostering intuitive user interfaces that evolve through continuous feedback.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across application layers, data pipelines, and AI/LLM behaviors such as grounding and hallucinations.
• Partner with platform, infrastructure, and product teams to deliver scalable production-grade systems.
• Develop reusable components and design patterns for AI application and UI development.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and modern frontend frameworks like React or TypeScript.
• Experience building full-stack applications including user interfaces, backend services, and APIs.
• Demonstrated capability in developing clean, efficient, and user-friendly interfaces.
• Hands-on expertise with LLM-based or AI-powered applications.
• Knowledge of agentic workflow orchestration frameworks.
• Ability to independently manage end-to-end implementations from high-level directives.
• Strong understanding of API architecture, state management, and integration between UI and backend.
• Skill in debugging traditional systems issues as well as AI/LLM-related behavior.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with tracing and observability tools for LLM ecosystems.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch and vector search technologies.
• Basic knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of multi-agent systems and evaluation methodologies.

This position is based in Cork, which is Ireland's second largest economic center and a preferred European hub for international companies. Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline with minimum 2 years experience in Software Engineering or related roles.
• OR Master’s degree in related fields with at least 1 year experience.
• OR PhD in relevant technical or engineering disciplines.
• Programming experience of 2+ years in languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
