About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst specializing in fintech to join a dynamic financial technology firm based in Canada. Collaborating closely with Finance, Accounting, and Data Engineering teams, you will architect scalable reporting frameworks from conception to implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and sustain comprehensive financial reporting systems including complex metrics, conversion funnels, dashboards, and performance reports utilizing BI tools such as Looker, Grafana, or comparable platforms.
Analyze financial data stored in BigQuery to produce actionable insights, covering profit and loss reporting, portfolio evaluations, accounting summaries, and high-level executive reports.
Streamline reporting workflows and automate external data exports to facilitate auditing, compliance, and regulatory inspections.
Work closely with Finance and Accounting to gather, interpret, and transform business requirements into scalable financial data models and reporting capabilities.
Create and implement data quality control frameworks featuring automated validations, monitoring, and alerting to guarantee the precision and dependability of financial data.
Construct financial forecasting models to aid strategic planning, including calculation of lifetime value (LTV), retention rates, profitability, expected losses, and other critical performance indicators.
Conduct advanced financial data examinations, anomaly detection, and experimental analysis using tools such as BigQuery, SQL, Python, and related frameworks.
Partner with Data Engineering to enhance data warehouse designs, optimize reporting workflows, and advance analytical functionalities.
Utilize modern AI and analytical technologies to boost financial insight generation, automation, and decision-making.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum of five years’ experience in data analysis, financial analytics, regulatory reporting, or similar roles within fintech, payments, banking, or financial sectors.
Expert proficiency in SQL with hands-on experience extracting, transforming, and analyzing complex datasets mainly using BigQuery or equivalent platforms.
Strong programming skills in Python, including libraries like Pandas and NumPy for data exploration, modeling, and sophisticated analysis.
Deep experience with business intelligence tools such as Looker, Grafana, Tableau, Power BI, or similar software, particularly in developing executive dashboards.
Solid understanding of financial principles including P&L structures, accounting standards (including IFRS), and financial risk metrics like Exposure at Default (EAD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA).
Experience in defining technical needs and collaborating with Data Engineering on data warehouse and reporting solutions.
Excellent analytical abilities to dissect complex datasets, uncover trends, and communicate findings effectively.
Experience related to financial compliance, audits, or regulatory reporting is highly advantageous.
Preferred additional experience with cryptocurrency payments, custody reconciliation, AML/transaction monitoring analytics, streaming data technologies (Kafka, Kinesis), and cloud data platforms (Spark, Snowflake, BigQuery).
Academic background in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative discipline is advantageous.
