Senior BI Engineer

Role overview

This position is for a Senior BI Engineer based in Bengaluru. The role centers on building enterprise analytics solutions that translate data into clear, actionable dashboards and reports. You will work across teams to improve business processes, support decision-making, and ensure BI assets are scalable, maintainable, performant, and reusable.

What you will do

• Take ownership of BI initiatives with a focus on Tableau dashboards and related datasets.
• Design, build, test, and maintain complex dashboard solutions with strong attention to scalability, performance, and reusability.
• Review dashboard code and design work produced by other team members.
• Partner with business stakeholders, data engineers, and BI professionals to deliver reliable analytics solutions.
• Define and uphold standards for Tableau usage, queries, security, programming practices, and operational quality.
• Build dashboards and datasets using the AtScale semantic layer.
• Support data pipelines, data lake, and data warehouse solutions that help unlock business value.
• Apply design standards and best practices to deliver meaningful business insights.
• Validate and certify existing Tableau dashboards through query review, testing, and updates to align with internal standards.
• Deliver clean datasets and BI-ready products for product owners, analytics teams, and business users.
• Improve internal processes through automation, better data delivery, and infrastructure changes that support scale.
• Handle analytical requests from both internal and external stakeholders.
• Work with analytics specialists to improve the capabilities of data systems.
• Create efficient, automated workflows for large-scale analysis, model development, validation, and implementation.
• Solve complex data challenges and turn them into practical insights that support business goals.
• Mentor and coach other BI developers.

Experience and background

The role calls for at least 5 years of experience in analytics engineering, BI development, data engineering, data science, or similar fields. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related area is preferred, though the qualification is listed as optional.

Skills and technical requirements

Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, or Looker is required. You should also be comfortable working with data warehouse platforms like Google BigQuery or AWS Redshift and writing SQL using direct queries, views, or materialized views. Experience in an Agile Scrum environment and practical knowledge of unit testing are also expected.

Additional advantages include advanced SQL skills, familiarity with relational databases, at least 5 years of Tableau development experience, exposure to AtScale cubes or similar semantic/cube-based tools, prior work with Google BigQuery SQL development, and experience in the QSR or restaurant domain.
