About the Role
We are recruiting a Senior Architect to join our in-house Building & Planning team in Naas, County Kildare, Ireland. This role involves leading the design and delivery of complex architectural projects primarily related to healthcare, specialist residential, and disability environments. You will handle multiple sites, lifting design standards to support neuroinclusive, therapeutic, and trauma-informed care environments that enhance dignity, independence, and quality of life for individuals with complex needs.
As a Senior Architect, you will have significant responsibility over projects from concept through construction completion, including feasibility studies, planning applications, technical detailing, and contract administration. You will also mentor junior staff and contribute to the evolution of departmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple complex projects simultaneously ensuring design quality, technical compliance, and timely delivery.
- Conduct feasibility studies and site appraisals to inform project approaches.
- Manage planning application processes and secure statutory approvals.
- Develop detailed technical documentation and construction details.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams including architects, technicians, and specialist advisors.
- Administer contracts and perform site inspections to ensure execution aligns with specifications.
- Provide technical solutions for challenges arising during construction.
- Liaise with Local Authorities, Building Control, and Fire Authorities to comply with regulations.
- Mentor junior team members and review technical contributions from consultants.
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, behavioural specialists, and operations teams to develop tailored architectural solutions.
Requirements
- Registered Architect with the RIAI or equivalent recognised professional organisation, or eligibility for registration in Ireland.
- Minimum eight years' post-registration architectural experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Thorough understanding of Irish Building Regulations and Planning laws.
- Proven capability in managing projects through planning, statutory approvals, and construction phases.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant teams.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Healthcare, specialist residential, or public sector project experience is preferred but not essential.
- Holding Assigned Certifier and/or PSDP qualifications is advantageous.
