Job description
About the Role
Reliance RE Power requires an accomplished SCADA Design Manager to oversee the design, engineering, and deployment of SCADA systems, Plant Monitoring Systems (PMS), communication networks, and automation solutions for large-scale solar photovoltaic, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hybrid renewable energy, and substation undertakings. The role involves developing resilient SCADA frameworks ensuring smooth communication between field devices and control centers, harmonizing engineering procedures, managing EPC collaborations, and delivering secure, scalable control and automation systems adhering to national and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive engineering for SCADA systems in utility-scale solar PV and hybrid energy parks.
- Formulate complete SCADA system architecture from field plants to remote monitoring hubs.
- Develop SCADA philosophies, design basis, system and communication architectures.
- Design system layouts including control rooms and networking topologies.
- Define requirements for Plant Monitoring Systems (PMS).
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as architecture drawings, communication diagrams, network topologies, fiber optic routing, panel layouts, cable schedules, IO lists, data point registers, communication matrices, functional design specifications, cause-effect matrices, control philosophies, system configuration documents, and FAT/SAT procedures.
- Design SCADA complying with all relevant grid regulations, including CEA, grid codes, SLDC, RLDC, and state utilities' specifications.
- Coordinate communication approval processes with DISCOMs, STU, CTU, and grid authorities.
- Develop and implement cybersecurity measures consistent with IEC 62443 and organizational policies, including firewall architecture, VLAN segmentation, VPNs, user authentication, and secure remote access.
- Manage vendor interactions by preparing technical specifications, evaluating OEMs, reviewing bids, organizing clarifications, coordinating with EPC contractors and system integrators, and participating in inspections and factory acceptance tests.
- Provide site support during installation, configuration, factory and site acceptance tests, commissioning, performance testing, and grid synchronization. Troubleshoot communication and integration challenges encountered during commissioning.
- Lead, mentor, and develop SCADA engineering teams; establish engineering standards, standardized design templates, and foster continuous improvement. Collaborate across Electrical, Civil, Protection, BESS, Project Execution, and O&M departments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering, or related disciplines; Master's preferred.
- 12 to 18 years of professional experience in SCADA, automation, communication engineering, or power system automation.
- At least 5 years working on utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
- Proven managerial experience leading engineering teams.
- Recommended exposure to BESS, hybrid renewable projects, or grid automation work.
