Research Assistant Scientist

Position Overview

The University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) is offering a 12-month, fully research-oriented, non-tenure track position for a Research Assistant Scientist within the Microbiology and Cell Science Department. This role primarily involves conducting research on a multi-year tomato project, including field sampling and sample analysis, alongside supporting the citrus project concerning EPA and FDA regulatory compliance. The position also entails managing lab personnel and participating in grant writing efforts as PI or co-PI.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fieldwork, sample extraction, and analysis related to tomato research projects.
• Assist with regulatory documentation and assessment for the citrus project for EPA submissions and FDA label approvals.
• Manage laboratory staff operations efficiently.
• Lead or collaborate on grant proposals as Principal Investigator or co-Principal Investigator.
