Job description
Overview
We are searching for diligent Quality Engineers to join our Civil Engineering division in Didcot, Oxfordshire, contributing to a significant multi-million-pound construction project. The role involves ensuring adherence to industry benchmarks, client demands, and legal regulations, while driving the refinement of quality procedures to sustain excellence throughout all stages of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply and oversee the Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) management system on site.
- Coordinate quality inspections involving site subcontractors and vendors, including all non-destructive testing activities.
- Liaise with the client’s appointed representatives on all matters related to quality.
- Distribute pertinent QA/QC documentation to subcontractors present on site.
- Confirm that quality-related activities comply with relevant codes and standards.
- Participate actively in both internal and external site quality audits.
- Ensure comprehensive assembly and completion of quality control documentation for client handover.
- Manage non-conformance reports and follow up on required corrective actions.
- Complete site quality control instructions and oversee the implementation of remedial measures.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with the approved site Quality Control Plan.
- Prepare and facilitate approval of site QC technical submissions to the client.
- Collaborate with the site construction manager to address quality issues.
- Organize and lead weekly QA/QC meetings with QC representatives from project subcontractors.
- Develop inspection and test scheduling programs.
- Ensure all technical documents relating to site quality control are up to date.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in quality roles within construction or civil engineering sectors.
- Thorough understanding of ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards.
- Experience conducting both internal and external quality audits.
- Knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- High attention to detail coupled with strong analytical capabilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management software/tools.
