Quality Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee construction operations to guarantee compliance with established Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plans and procedures.
• Perform inspections, tests, and audits on materials, workmanship, and processes to confirm adherence to standards and project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and construction teams to address quality concerns and rectify non-conformances.
• Evaluate method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), material submissions, and construction drawings focusing on quality standards.
• Document findings thoroughly by preparing inspection/test reports, maintaining quality logs, and generating non-conformance reports (NCRs) when necessary.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure implementation and understanding of quality standards.
• Assist in developing and enforcing quality management systems (QMS) aligned with international standards like ISO 9001.
• Engage in internal and external quality audits, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are executed promptly.
• Conduct training sessions to raise awareness of quality practices among project personnel.
• Maintain accurate and traceable quality documentation throughout the project's lifecycle.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution, subject to Engineer's approval.
• At least 10 years experience in quality engineering or QA/QC roles, with minimum 7 years in construction or infrastructure consulting environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, methods, testing procedures, and standards such as ASTM, BS, and ISO.
• Proficient with QA/QC systems, tools, and documentation for large-scale construction projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and specialized quality management software tools.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications related to quality management systems, for example ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
• Experience with infrastructure projects including roads, utilities, drainage, and other public works.
• Previous experience working in the Gulf region is highly regarded.
• Familiarity with local construction regulations and quality standards.
• Competency in Arabic language is beneficial.
• Ability to juggle various tasks efficiently and perform well under pressure.
