Role overview
The Quality Control Executive will oversee the condition and compliance of incoming and stored shipments, with a strong focus on fresh produce such as apples and other delicate items. The position calls for shipment inspections, coordination with surveyors, close monitoring of storage conditions, and accurate reporting to support sales and operations functions.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out full quality checks on all container and air consignments.
- Complete re-checks of quality whenever the sales team requests them, within the required timelines.
- Spot any quality issues or product defects quickly and escalate them without delay.
- Draft and circulate daily and weekly quality control updates to management and sales teams.
- Make sure all reports are precise, complete, and submitted on schedule.
- Answer quality-related questions from internal teams within 24 hours.
- Coordinate surveyor inspections for containers in a timely manner.
- Ensure all supporting documents are ready and available for inspection and review.
- Monitor survey outcomes and follow up until issues are resolved.
- Keep detailed records to support audits and accountability.
- Maintain weekly temperature logs for all storage facilities.
- Track product ageing and flag any risk of spoilage or expiry early.
- Act quickly to correct any deviation from approved storage standards.
- Maintain correct inventory records for repacking stock.
- Ensure quality compliance during repacking activities.
- Reduce stock mismatches and finish assigned tasks within the expected timelines.
Performance expectations
- All shipments should be checked without exception.
- Quality reports must be submitted accurately and on time.
- Surveyor coordination should lead to timely closure of quality issues.
- Storage conditions must be maintained properly with minimal product deterioration.
- Inventory records should remain highly accurate with very limited discrepancies.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Food Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in quality control, ideally in fresh produce or cold storage.
- Strong understanding of quality standards for fruits and other perishables.
- Excellent attention to detail and reporting accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
