Role Overview
This position involves coordinating and supporting the preparation of various proposals within the aerospace sector. Responsibilities include full or partial management of proposal tasks depending on the project, leading teams to meet quality, time, and cost goals, and ensuring proposals comprehensively address customer requirements including formal and informal needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and assist in compiling proposals, sometimes taking full ownership of specific tasks.
- Lead the proposal team to deliver submissions that meet quality standards, adhere to timelines, and control costs.
- Confirm proposals satisfy both explicit tender conditions and implicit customer expectations across technical, financial, contractual, industrial, and political dimensions.
- Guarantee proposals successfully pass all content and cost reviews, aligning with all internal stakeholder expectations.
- Handle proposals spanning diverse contract values and industry verticals such as Earth Observation, Navigation, Exploration, Telecommunications, and Space Transportation with clients including ESA, EC, DLR, other agencies, the Bundeswehr, and commercial companies.
- Contribute to organizing and conducting in-house training sessions related to proposal processes.
- Help maintain key performance indicators connected to proposals, analyze proposal metrics, and assist in defining improvement measures in collaboration with departmental leadership.
- Support enhancements in proposal methodologies and quality to increase chances of winning contracts.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed Diploma or Master's degree in aerospace engineering or a related field such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or physics.
- Strong strategic mindset emphasizing entrepreneurial thinking with focus on quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Minimum of three years of extensive experience managing proposals with institutional clients.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including VBA programming and expert-level skills with MS Word, as well as advanced editing software such as Adobe and InDesign.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Preferred additional skills: experience in cost engineering, familiarity with the space industry (commercial space experience is advantageous), knowledge of system engineering and project management, proficiency in German, and any other European languages.
