Role Description
The Project Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for accurately managing all costs related to construction projects to ensure financial feasibility and efficiency through all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile precise cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and comprehensive tender documents.
- Analyze drawings and specifications to determine project necessities and associated expenditures.
- Perform quantity take-offs and conduct thorough cost analyses for various construction undertakings.
- Oversee budget management, forecasting, and cost control throughout projects.
- Assess subcontractor bids, preparing comparative evaluations.
- Draft and manage contracts, contract variations, progress claims, and final accounts.
- Track project spending and proactively identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Liaise effectively with project managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
- Evaluate and validate subcontractor progress payments.
- Ensure adherence to contractual commitments, company policies, and industry standards.
- Assist procurement processes by evaluating material costs.
- Generate periodic commercial and financial reports for leadership review.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
- A proven track record of 5 to 7 years as a Quantity Surveyor in construction-related projects.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure sectors is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques, contract management, and cost control.
- Proficiency with quantity surveying and estimation software tools.
- Expertise in preparing BOQs and tender documentation.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Effective communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Solid command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Capable of independently handling multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Additional Information
- Preference for candidates with experience in UAE building or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and regulations from UAE authorities.
- Comfortable functioning in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Experience with AutoCAD, CostX, Planswift, or similar software is considered a plus.
