About the Role

As a Project Controller at Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you will oversee the successful execution of key defence and shipbuilding initiatives governed by the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA). Your responsibilities include comprehensive management of financial performance, scheduling, and project progress to guarantee timely delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with scope, governance frameworks, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee financial aspects including budget preparation, cost management, forecasting, and performing earned value analyses.
Track project timelines, key milestones, and performance indicators to ensure progress aligns with plans.
Develop and maintain Performance Measurement Baselines (PMB) for projects.
Support Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBR) following contractual obligations and EVMS guidelines.
Create detailed reports and dashboards that summarize project performance data.
Integrate and manage project information using EVMS, IFS, P6, and related platforms.
Identify, assess, and communicate potential program risks and opportunities.
Monitor resource allocation and usage, reporting any significant variances.
Collaborate across functions including Finance, Procurement, Program Management, and Operations to align efforts.
Promote ongoing enhancements in project control methodologies, reporting tools, and overall process improvements.

Candidate Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a similar field.
Between 2 to 5 years of experience in project controls, cost management, or financial analysis.
Proficient understanding of cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, and variance examination.
Practical experience with Earned Value Management and project performance evaluation.
Familiarity with scheduling concepts such as critical path, sequencing, and dependencies.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and capability in utilizing financial reporting software.
Effective communication talents with the ability to distill complex data into understandable insights.
Detail-oriented with an analytical mindset and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
