Production Planner

About the Role

An established public sector organization in Reading is seeking a Production Planner for a contract position extending through December 2027. This is a full-time onsite opportunity, offering an hourly rate of up to £32 (inside IR35, umbrella).

Key Responsibilities

• Support and update the Master Production Schedule, ensuring that manufacturing plans align with operational unit requirements balancing deadlines, budgets, and quality.
• Maintain data accuracy in the local Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
• Apply Lean methodologies such as visual management and Kanban to streamline planning and production processes.
• Continuously reforecast and adjust production plans in response to supply chain issues, material availability, or changing requirements.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and stakeholders across multiple departments to prevent and resolve production bottlenecks.
• Track and report on production performance using digital tools and software for effective monitoring and reporting.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated background in production planning within manufacturing or precision engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering, machining processes, and manufacturing workflow.
• Experience managing purchase orders, supplier deliveries, and production scheduling.
• Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder coordination across operations, supply chain, and external teams.
• Competence with computer-based systems for performance tracking, preferably including SAP and ERP platforms.
