Production Manager - Battery

About the Role and Team

The Production Manager - Battery will be based at Ather Energy's factory in Chatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. Reporting to the Production Head - Operations, this role leads the battery manufacturing production team to meet key performance indicators focused on Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale (SQCDM). The manager will oversee a multidisciplinary team, guiding them towards operational excellence and aligning with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance in culture, capability, and capacity development within the department.
• Drive the team to accomplish SQCDM targets aligned with company goals.
• Foster a safety-first mindset aimed at zero safety incidents and accidents.
• Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance operational standards.
• Identify and lead cost-reduction efforts to minimize waste and rejections.
• Coordinate with functions to ensure timely delivery of production targets.
• Promote an inclusive work environment that supports team growth and wellbeing.
• Represent the department in various meetings and ensure follow-through on key action items.
• Establish and maintain standardized processes to streamline function operations.
• Plan resources effectively aligned with organizational requirements.
• Set and nurture the function’s culture and uphold professional standards.
• Ensure new assets and processes introduced meet departmental requirements.
• Manage audits and compliance related to the function.
• Review change contents in collaboration with site improvement committees.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Technology degree in any discipline.
• Between 8 to 14 years of relevant experience in production management or manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Advanced expertise in people management to lead and coordinate production teams effectively during shifts.
• Strong presentation and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Proficient in lean manufacturing methodologies and productivity enhancement techniques.
• Experienced in quality improvement practices using problem-solving tools such as A3 and PDCA cycles.

Desirable Competencies

• Basic understanding of Integrated Management Systems, including ISO 14001, 45001, and 9001 standards.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 digital manufacturing technologies.
• Working knowledge of SAP and JIRA platforms for operations tracking and issue management.
• Experience with assembly and production concepts relevant to various workstations.
• Competent in using G-Suite tools for data management and team communication.
