Job description

We’re Capital on Tap 👋
💳 Capital on Tap started because small businesses were underserved. Big banks were slow, their products weren't fit for purpose, and small business owners often couldn't access what they needed. We set out to fix that.

Today we're a financial platform - not just a credit card company. We offer a best-in-class business credit card, SME-focused spend management platform, a savings product that hit £1 billion in funds within its first year, and a growing suite of tools and financial products that make running a small business easier.

1,000+ employees, £20bn in annual card spend, 200,000+ customers, 17,000+ Trustpilot reviews averaging 4.7 stars, and we're profitable. We’ve done a pretty good job so far, but we’re just getting started!

📍 London | 🏢 3 days in office

Product at Capital on Tap 🚀 Our Product team sits at the heart of everything we build. We move fast, work closely with engineering, and obsess over outcomes for our customers.

What You'll Be Doing

We're seeking a Product Designer to join our centralised team of three, contributing across product areas as our web and mobile apps continue to grow.

This hybrid role will touch the journeys customers use to run their businesses, while helping shape our design system. Expect variety: one week you're defining a component, the next you're designing a feature or supporting an acquisition campaign. Work here isn't handed over as a spec to execute; you're expected to think from first principles and bring a point of view.

Where the time goes: roughly 70% UX and Product, 20% UI and Visual Design, 10% Marketing and Growth.

Why this role matters

You'd be designing the tools small business owners use to make real financial decisions, and work where getting it right shapes someone's day. It's also a good place to grow. A small team means more ownership sooner and more of the whole job: you're in the prioritisation conversations, not just receiving their output, and you work across the business rather than in one corner of it.

We're looking for

This role is for someone early in their design career, keen to grow into owning features end to end with support from senior designers along the way. You're curious, proactive, and comfortable asking questions rather than waiting for a brief.

2-5 years in product or UX design, ideally with some exposure to a design system (Figma and/or code).

A portfolio showing solid UX fundamentals (problem definition, interaction, usability, accessibility) alongside a good eye for visual polish.

Fluency in Figma and working knowledge of modern design and prototyping tools.

You go and find out. You take unknowns to whoever holds the answer, support, engineering, ops, data, rather than escalating or guessing.

You define design by what it needs to do, then apply the right elements and patterns.

You build from the kit. You reach for existing solutions before inventing, and can tell when they genuinely don't cover the case rather than forcing a bad fit.

Great to have

Exposure to design ops, design tooling, or AI-assisted workflows.

Experience with design-to-production workflows.

Prior work in a scaling product org with multiple teams or product surfaces.
