Role Overview

The Planning Engineer is pivotal in ensuring timely delivery of customer orders through close partnership with Supply Chain, Central Planning, and Manufacturing units. This role demands strong analytical skills and collaboration to manage material planning, perform capacity assessments, and optimize production workflows for maximum throughput.

Key Responsibilities

• Guarantee on-time completion of customer production orders.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain to accommodate customer demands including unexpected ones.
• Collaborate with Central Planning to enhance network load distribution to meet commitments.
• Work with material planners to secure necessary components for production, handling engineering requests and standard demand.
• Ensure coordinated wafer supply through Supply Chain and Central Planning.
• Conduct weekly capacity feasibility analyses alongside Industrial Engineering for scheduled and ad-hoc orders.
• Maximize assembly output via optimized production loading.
• Partner with Manufacturing for tactical planning over immediate weeks.
• Support Process Engineers for specialized lead lot builds and ensure correct process flow adherence.
• Coordinate production sequence starts and monitor execution efficiency, proposing improvements as needed.
• Enhance probe job scheduling through optimized combinations and implement dashboards for early issue detection.
• Engage engineering teams to resolve probe discrepancies promptly.
• Participate actively in projects aimed at enhancing planning operations and advancing continuous improvement and cost savings.
• Integrate AI tools responsibly to boost work efficiency, quality, and effectiveness, sharing insights within the team.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering preferred.
• At least 2 years demonstrating leadership experience through academic or extracurricular activities.
• Proficient in production and material planning methodologies.
• Experience with capacity analysis and optimization strategies.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP.
• Strong skills in data analysis and reporting.
• Motivated to thrive in dynamic environments using sound management and coping techniques.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and teamwork skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making competence.
• Commitment to continuous improvement.
• Programming experience including application of AI tools and coding (such as vibe coding with free Gen AI tools).
• Hands-on involvement with AI applications like chatbots, agentic AI, and automation.
• Experience with SAP warehouse modules and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS).
• Exposure to Material Review Board (MRB) resolution processes.
• Background or internships in semiconductor manufacturing are advantageous.
• Interest in Micron and the semiconductor market is desirable.
