Role Overview
Join our Environment and Society team in New Zealand as a Planning Consultant, focused on facilitating the consent process for infrastructure projects. This position offers a chance to advance your planning profession within a collaborative multidisciplinary consultancy, contributing to a resilient and well-planned future for Aotearoa New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support in consenting various projects across sectors like water, transport, energy, and built environment.
- Assist in preparing environmental impact assessments and resource consent applications under senior planners' supervision.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, offering planning insights integrated into broader design and advisory outputs.
- Engage effectively with internal stakeholders to align project objectives with planning criteria.
- Help senior and principal planners during consultation sessions and stakeholder communication as needed.
- Ensure compliance with organizational quality, safety, and environmental management standards throughout all tasks.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a relevant tertiary qualification in planning, resource management, environmental studies, or related fields.
- Bring early-career experience typically between 2 to 5 years in environmental or infrastructure planning, consulting, or within local/regional government.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of New Zealand's planning system and applicable legislation.
- Exhibit strong written and oral communication skills capable of creating clear and structured planning documents.
- Show a cooperative attitude with eagerness to learn within a professional consultancy setting.
- Have a genuine interest in infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and development in New Zealand.
Membership or in-progress accreditation with the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI) is preferable but not mandatory.
