Position Overview

Calian Health Services is looking for a part-time Physiotherapist to join the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre. This role involves providing thorough consultation, evaluation, and treatment in the physiotherapy department by appointment and walk-ins, as well as in the Care Delivery Unit through sick parades and consultations as part of a collaborative healthcare model. Our clients are typically highly fit, motivated individuals aiming for recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement evidence-based physiotherapy and rehabilitation strategies aligned with regulatory standards and professional scope.
• Manage a full orthopedic caseload averaging 12-15 patients daily, with 8-10 new patient assessments each week.
• Assess and treat neuro-musculoskeletal issues mainly from sports or training injuries and workplace accidents.
• Secure informed consent by clearly explaining assessments and treatments.
• Conduct screening, education, and orthoses recommendations in direct access settings like CDU walk-ins.
• Prescribe therapeutic exercises to promote rehabilitation, injury prevention, and fitness enhancement.
• Apply manual therapy and soft tissue techniques addressing muscle and circulatory conditions.
• Utilize pain management methods including acupuncture techniques requiring needle insertion below the dermis.
• Deliver ergonomics education and perform workplace on-site ergonomic assessments.
• Educate patients and healthcare peers on injury prevention and health promotion topics.
• Conduct biomechanical foot evaluations, fitting, and fabrication of orthotics.
• Develop and support rehabilitation programs such as proprioceptive training, reintegration initiatives, and back pain self-management as part of the clinical team.
• Engage in multidisciplinary patient care discussions via case presentations, clinical rounds, and patient conferences to ensure continuous follow-up.
• Maintain detailed clinical documentation adhering to Canadian Forces and provincial regulatory guidelines for every patient interaction.

Required Qualifications

• Valid and current physiotherapy license in good standing from Ontario.
• At least 3 years’ experience specializing in orthopedics or sports medicine.
• Certification in Manual Therapy Level 2, McKenzie Part B, or Acupuncture (AFCI/Dry Needling Certification).
• Current Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers or an equivalent such as CPR/AED Level C.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to obtain Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
