Role Overview
We are looking for a dynamic Payroll Systems Assistant to join our team at Head Office in Plymouth. This role is integral to managing and optimizing the payroll and workforce management systems that support accurate and timely payroll services throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support administration, maintenance, and enhancement of payroll and workforce management systems.
- Assist with system upgrades, new feature implementations, testing, and improvements.
- Monitor system integrations, performance, and data quality, proactively addressing issues.
- Generate and analyze payroll, workforce, and management reports to provide meaningful insights for Payroll, HR, and Finance teams.
- Manage data imports, reconciliations, and audits to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Offer first-line system support, guidance, and training to Payroll personnel and business users.
- Contribute to payroll-related projects and process improvements aimed at operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, GDPR, internal controls, and auditing standards.
- Identify opportunities to automate processes, enhance user experience, and improve payroll accuracy.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in payroll, HR systems, or similar systems environments.
- Good understanding of payroll processes and effective data management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analytics techniques.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, comfortable handling large data volumes.
- Experience preparing reports and interpreting data to assist decision-making.
- Effective communication skills, able to translate technical information for non-technical users.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced setting.
- Professional approach to managing sensitive and confidential data.
Desirable Attributes:
- Familiarity with Zellis Payroll and/or UKG Workforce Management (formerly Kronos).
- Experience within an internal payroll function.
- Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and best practices.
- Experience with CSV file handling, data imports, system integrations, and interfaces.
- Participation in payroll system testing, upgrades, or implementations.
- Skills in SQL, reporting tools, or data extraction methods.
- Support for business changes, process improvements, or payroll-related projects.

Employment Details: Permanent, full-time role, based in Plymouth, Devon. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:45 AM to 5:30 PM.
