Job Overview

This position is for a One-to-One Teaching Assistant at Easthorpe School, an independent specialist school in Nottinghamshire serving children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and related diagnoses. The role is full-time on a fixed one-year contract, aligned with term-time only schedules, based onsite in Ruddington, England. The salary range is 321 to 23,233 annually. About the School

Easthorpe School supports children and young people aged 7 to 13 years, with small class sizes of no more than six pupils, supported by qualified teachers and up to two teaching assistants. The school provides a nurturing educational environment tailored to pupils with diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, attachment issues, and mild/moderate learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated mentoring and support for an individual pupil or a small group up to six pupils.
• Assist and support the classroom teacher during lessons to enhance learning.
• Monitor and report on pupils' academic progress and wellbeing, communicating with school staff to best meet pupil needs.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom times including extracurricular activities and school outings.
• Contribute to lesson planning, preparation, work setting, and marking as appropriate.
• Develop strong relationships with pupils to foster positive interaction and promote effective learning outcomes.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a solid educational background, ideally to A-level standard, with at least a Grade C/4 or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics and competent IT skills.
• Experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar supporting role in an educational setting.
• Previous exposure to working with pupils with SEMH needs.
• Confidence and experience to assume additional responsibilities within school, such as food hygiene, Forest School activities, lunchtime supervision, yoga, or related areas.
• Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and experience applying them.
• A commitment to ongoing professional growth and readiness to acquire new skills.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check before starting work.
