Position Overview

The Mortgage Processor acts as the crucial operational link within the loan pipeline, supporting loan officers by managing mortgage applications from initiation through closing. The role entails verifying borrower documentation, facilitating communication with all stakeholders, and ensuring files are properly prepared for underwriting and closing to provide a smooth and timely customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Handle new mortgage loan applications by collecting, organizing, and verifying all necessary borrower details such as income, assets, employment, and credit records.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers and real estate agents by delivering prompt loan status updates and addressing inquiries professionally.
Order and monitor title work, homeowner’s insurance, flood assessments, and other third-party services required for loan approval and closing processes.
Coordinate with attorneys and title companies to arrange closing dates and prepare comprehensive closing packages.
Provide payoff details for existing loans to attorneys, closing agents, and customers as needed.
Compile loan packages in the appropriate format for underwriting submission and secondary market sales.
Stay updated on underwriting standards for secondary market programs to guarantee loan file compliance.
Identify opportunities to cross-sell banking products and services to mortgage clients.
Assist with construction draw processing and disbursements when applicable.
Ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
Adhere to company service expectations and carry out additional Mortgage Department duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
Basic understanding of mortgage loan products and residential lending processes.
Proficiency using loan origination software such as Calyx, Jack Henry/Silverlake, or comparable platforms.
Competence with computer systems to manage electronic loan documentation.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial paperwork and data.
Strong organizational and time management skills capable of managing multiple active loan files simultaneously.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with borrowers, realtors, attorneys, and internal teams.

Preferred

Experience with processing conventional, FHA, VA, or USDA mortgage products.
Knowledge of secondary market guidelines and investor delivery requirements.
Familiarity with collaboration among title companies and closing attorneys.
Understanding of regulatory compliance including TRID, RESPA, and BSA.
