Mechanical Junior Supervisor – Base Maintenance

Position Overview

The role involves an experienced mechanical technician and supervisory responsibilities focused on conducting intricate maintenance tasks on the Typhoon aircraft and its components. The individual must have thorough knowledge of the approved technical instructions and the capability to oversee personnel executing maintenance within the regulatory framework of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed maintenance, inspections, and supervise activities related to Typhoon aircraft and its components.
• Ensure all work complies with approved technical data and work package requirements.
• Troubleshoot faults and manage maintenance concerns, including configuration oversight.
• Complete maintenance and diagnostic duties such as ground handling, flight servicing, component removal, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault correction, replacements, and system testing.
• Exhibit adaptability and a proactive approach in managing assigned duties and accepting guidance.
• Maintain valid task authorizations necessary for aircraft/component work.
• Coordinate and ensure maintenance schedules are met, addressing and escalating problems when necessary.
• Evaluate faults detected during maintenance and initiate appropriate work orders.
• Supervise teams to guarantee maintenance progress aligns with schedules, raising relevant concerns and reporting impacts on the broader program.
• Confirm maintenance personnel competency and authorization for allocated tasks.
• Support compliance assurance activities, such as oversight checks and tooling/test equipment control, following organizational procedures.
• Lead and mentor team members using formal assessment methods like Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) and facilitate training initiatives, including on-the-job training.
• Communicate complex information effectively and manage personnel proficiently.
• Conduct independent critical inspections and maintain personal logbook records evidencing currency and recency of skills.
• As a designated assessor (if applicable), perform task authorizations, competency confirmations, and review licensing application packages prior to submission.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completed Engineering Apprenticeship, preferably in Aeronautical Engineering or an equivalent military qualification.
• Minimum academic credentials include City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 certification in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or an equivalent qualification, along with aircraft platform training.
• Deep technical knowledge and competence in assigned subject area.
• Understanding of team integration toward achieving departmental objectives and commitment to continuous improvement practices.
• At least two years’ experience at the technician level before progressing to a supervisory position.
• Documented evidence of skills, knowledge, and authorizations maintained through a detailed Log Book for aircraft or bay work.
• Proven experience with aviation safety standards and operating procedures, including knowledge of organizational Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures.
• Training in PDR, adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies, and risk assessment compliance.
• Completion of specialized courses such as Typhoon Composite Flight Servicing, Typhoon Mechanical Trade ‘Q’ Course, Leadership Foundation, Human Factors Standard, E&PW Awareness, ITAR Awareness, IT literacy, and Fire Training per Qatar GFx guidelines.
