About the Role and Workplace

We are seeking a Maintenance Person to join our new Castle Lodge Care Home in Mere, part of the Country Court family. Our care home delivers residential and specialist dementia care in a calm, secure environment aiming to provide a high-quality, enjoyable lifestyle for residents with various needs. This position involves working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Role Responsibilities

• Maintain the property ensuring it remains safe, structurally sound, and that all utilities operate effectively.
• Store tools and equipment securely to protect residents and staff, ensuring all cleaning and hazardous materials comply with the home's COSHH policies.
• Complete routine maintenance, fire safety, and health and safety inspections as directed by the Home Manager.
• Ensure that any vehicles used for resident transportation meet safety and legal standards.
• Perform light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and decorating tasks within the scope of qualifications and skills.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience working as a maintenance person.
• Understanding of diverse traditional building trades.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices at work, including moving and handling and COSHH assessments.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude, taking ownership to resolve issues.
• Good written and verbal communication capabilities.
• Familiarity with the care sector is preferred.
• Valid driving license is mandatory.
