Lead Electrical Engineer

Overview

The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for overseeing all electrical engineering activities within an EPC environment, coordinating across disciplines, and actively driving the engineering phase of one or multiple projects. This role involves significant participation in proposals, bids, and providing technical support throughout construction and commissioning phases to ensure smooth execution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, supervise, and monitor all electrical engineering tasks.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination and foster teamwork.
• Anticipate issues proactively and escalate them early to management for timely resolution.
• Engage actively in progress reviews, technical discussions, client and vendor interactions.
• Assist procurement by preparing material requisitions, evaluating technical bids, and drafting purchase requisitions.
• Support bidding efforts through RFQ issuance, bid technical assessment, and cost estimation.
• Provide technical clarifications during construction phases and review vendor engineering deliverables as required.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality and safety standards.
• Participate in value engineering initiatives, lessons learned sessions, risk assessments, and constructability workshops.
• Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction to enhance company reputation and secure future business.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 10 years in oil & gas, petrochemicals, power, or related industries.
• Experienced with EPC contractors and GES plus on Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and similar projects.
• Familiarity with FAT/SAT procedures and pre-commissioning support activities.

Educational Background

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BS, BE, or B.Tech).
• Relevant training and certifications are expected.

Technical Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems requirements for oil & gas, petrochemical, power, and water sectors.
• Strong command over Saudi Aramco, SABIC, SEC, DEP, Royal Commission, HCISS standards and practices.
• Familiarity with global codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, API, ATEX, JIS, CSA, NEC, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, FM, UL.
• Ability to develop technical specs and data sheets for switchyards, transformers, switchgear, motors, UPS, lighting, battery banks, automation, fire detection, cathodic protection, grounding, and cabling systems.
• Proficient in preparing layouts, equipment installation details, single-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and schedules.
• Competent in engineering calculations including grounding, illumination, voltage drop, cable sizing, and ETAP studies covering load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, relay coordination, harmonics, grounding grid, and cable systems.
• Knowledge of interdisciplinary interfaces with process, mechanical, civil/structural, instrumentation, and control engineering.
• Active participation in safety studies such as QRA, Envid, Hazid, Hazop, and SIL assessments.
