Kitchen Porter

Position Overview

The Metropole Hotel in Cork is seeking a dedicated full-time Kitchen Porter to join the food service team. Previous experience in this role is an advantage but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and a strong work ethic to maintain the hotel's high standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the kitchen and adjacent areas are maintained at the highest levels of cleanliness.
• Adhere strictly to hygiene and cleaning standards in line with HACCP guidelines.
• Report punctually to work, dressed in the prescribed uniform and maintain excellent personal hygiene and grooming.
• Take full accountability for the assigned kitchen section.
• Implement waste management practices by recycling, reusing, and reducing as per the hotel's Recycling Policy.
• Support all kitchen staff and ensure all kitchen equipment remains clean at all times.
• Uphold health and safety responsibilities for personal and others' wellbeing on the premises.
• Promote a professional and positive image of the hotel to colleagues and guests.
• Report maintenance issues promptly to management and maintenance teams.
• Document and communicate any incidents, accidents, or damages to the departmental manager.
• Maintain alertness towards security and attend required safety drills and meetings.
• Familiarize and comply with alarm and evacuation procedures as well as health, hygiene, fire, and safety protocols.
• Participate actively in all managerial training sessions and hotel-led development programs.
• Address guest inquiries and grievances promptly and handle lost property according to hotel procedures.
• Perform any additional reasonable tasks assigned by management.
