Role Overview
The company is looking for a Junior UI/UX Designer to support the development of a sophisticated, web-based Motion GEOINT product. Reporting to a seasoned UI/UX lead and collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, users, and stakeholders, you will craft intuitive, clear interfaces for complex and data-intense workflows.
Eligibility and Security Requirements
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens holding an active TS/SCI government security clearance with CI polygraph or be willing and able to obtain one. Employment is contingent upon clearance verification. The role is subject to U.S. export control laws requiring U.S. person status.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in user experience design for browser-based applications across stages from initial concept to final handoff.
- Produce wireframes, user flows, mockups, interactive prototypes, and polished interface designs for feature sets.
- Collaborate with UI/UX leads, product teams, users, and engineers to analyze requirements and streamline complex workflows.
- Utilize and enhance the existing design system, component library, and web UI standards.
- Implement visual design, interaction, accessibility, and usability standards in your design work.
- Support user research activities including preparation, note-taking, feedback collection, usability tests, and result analysis.
- Engage in design reviews, critiques, and product planning discussions.
- Work closely with engineering during implementation to clarify designs, respond to constraints, and revise designs accordingly.
- Maintain documentation of design decisions and organize design files for team accessibility.
Qualifications
- US citizenship with active TS/SCI clearance and CI polygraph or willingness to obtain one.
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in UI/UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Web Design, or similar; equivalent practical experience considered.
- Up to two years of experience in UI/UX design for web applications including professional, internship, academic, or project roles.
- Experience engaging with users, designers, product managers, and developers collaboratively.
- Portfolio showcasing design skills and process including academic or professional projects.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with modern web application design using frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Knowledge of responsive design, accessibility guidelines, usability practices, and user-centric design.
- Ability to explain design rationale and actively participate in constructive feedback.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, component-based design, and front-end development constraints.
- Interest in design and development of complex, data-rich, mission-oriented software.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and eagerness to learn.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Exposure to Agile development environments.
- Experience with Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Familiarity with geospatial intelligence, mapping applications, or related software.
- Understanding of design systems and scalable UI component libraries.
- Knowledge of developer handoff processes and tools.
- Basic front-end coding skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Experience designing dashboards, complex workflows, data-dense interfaces, or analytical enterprise tools.
- Understanding of user research techniques, usability testing, and analytics-driven design.
- Strong multitasking and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to leverage AI tools to automate repetitive tasks, speed prototyping, and amplify design productivity while retaining quality control.
