Job description

Role Overview

This position is for a Junior Python Developer based in Mississauga, Ontario, working onsite three days per week under a contract-to-hire arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and services using Python.
  • Create and manage REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven integration layers.
  • Support the development of Agentic AI workflows and components enabled by MCP technology.
  • Integrate AI models with enterprise and business systems.
  • Develop reusable software components adhering to enterprise engineering standards.
  • Engage throughout the software development lifecycle including design, coding, unit testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and operational controls to ensure reliability and stability of services.
  • Contribute to automation efforts, including continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and testing frameworks.
  • Utilize messaging and event-streaming tools to enable asynchronous processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with both business and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, performance optimization, and feature upgrades.
  • Document technical plans, implementation specifics, and operational workflows.
  • Adhere to established security, governance, and risk policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Between 2 and 5 years of professional Python development experience.
  • Proficient in designing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Experience with event-driven design and familiarity with messaging platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Python web frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational database management.
  • Experience with version control systems, automated testing, and CI/CD tools.
  • Comfortable working within Linux operating environments.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving mindset.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in team settings.

Desired Skills

  • Exposure to Agentic AI frameworks, MCP technology, large language models (LLMs), and generative AI solutions.
  • Familiarity with event streaming platforms such as Kafka or MQ.
  • Experience using cloud computing platforms and containerization technologies.
  • Background in financial services, especially banking or risk management domains.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, observability practices, and platform monitoring tools.
