Role Overview
The Junior Operator position supports the expanding APAC Gas & Power division, including initiatives in Australia and escalating daily scheduling, coordination, control, and data duties. This role bridges various functions such as Commercial Operations, Trading, Risk, Middle Office, Settlements, Finance, Contracts, Legal, and Compliance, plus market/system operators, ensuring smooth operational flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and verify trade data within the ETRM system, handling trade lifecycle processes such as capture, confirmation, amendment, allocation, scheduling, and settlement.
- Carry out daily scheduling and nomination tasks for gas, power, and environmental certificates, ensuring accurate and timely delivery fulfillment.
- Coordinate real-time and day-ahead scheduling, collaborating with traders, counterparties, market operators, and service providers to handle schedule adjustments and resolve delivery concerns.
- Track physical position status and assist balancing efforts to satisfy delivery targets and limit operational risks.
- Confirm and reconcile settlement statements and invoices thoroughly.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records across ETRM, scheduling, and settlement platforms supporting reporting, compliance, and ongoing process improvements.
- Work cohesively with various internal and external stakeholders to investigate and resolve operational challenges and facilitate transaction processing.
- Perform additional responsibilities as delegated by management.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Either knowledge of or a strong willingness to understand power and gas market operations, including scheduling, balancing, and transmission processes.
- Experience with operational systems is beneficial; familiarity with ETRM platforms is a plus but not mandatory.
- High attention to detail with an ability to perform accurately under stringent deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, adept at collaborating cross-functionally.
- Basic proficiency in Japanese language is an advantage but optional.
- Competent user of Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting tasks.

This position is designed to add operational capacity, reduce dependency on key personnel, and provide a career growth opportunity for junior team members within APAC operations. Reporting lines are to APAC Operations management and senior Commercial Operator personnel, with mentoring support but no formal direct reports.
