Role overview

The Junior Data Analyst will assist research and administrative teams by gathering, refining, and structuring data from both internal and external sources. The position includes building datasets, carrying out basic statistical review, producing reports and dashboards, and turning data into clear visual insights that help guide decisions. The role also requires working closely with academic and administrative colleagues to understand their information needs, maintain data accuracy, and document the processes used. This is a full-time, on-site position in Munich, with regular in-person attendance and active involvement in meetings and institutional projects.

Key responsibilities

• Collect data from a range of internal and external sources and prepare it for analysis.
• Clean, validate, and organize datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Carry out simple statistical analysis and interpret the results in a practical way.
• Create reports, dashboards, and visual summaries for decision-making support.
• Work with academic staff and administrative teams to understand reporting and data needs.
• Maintain high data quality standards and document methods and workflows clearly.
• Contribute to team meetings and institutional projects while working on site in Munich.

Required qualifications and skills

• Basic capability in data collection, data cleaning, and data validation.
• Ability to perform elementary statistical analysis and explain quantitative findings clearly.
• Exposure to data visualization tools or libraries such as Excel charts, Tableau, or similar solutions.
• Working knowledge of at least one analytics tool or language such as Excel, SQL, Python, or R.
• Strong communication skills for sharing findings with non-technical audiences.
• Good planning and organizational habits, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or a related discipline.
• Interest in an academic setting; experience with university data, research projects, or administrative analytics is a plus.
• Comfort with collaborating in a diverse, international, on-site team.
